The Lucky Bear a new concentrate unit released by Atman, designed for most 510 thread cartridges for vaping thick CBD/THC oils.

First Impressions

When you open the round container packaging you are quick to realize that the Lucky Bear is tiny. This little battery has a great feel and obviously at this size I understand why they included the lanyard. The size of the unit makes you wonder how will this perform or what’s the battery life going to be? But Atman are confident that we will be amazed of its performance.

What’s in the Box

The Lucky Bear vape kit contents :

  • Lucky Bear Battery
  • Oil Cartridge
  • Lanyard
  • USB Charging Cable
  • Very Basic Instructions

How To

The Lucky Bear has a single button fonction making use very easy. To turn the unit On/Off you just click the button 5 times rapidly and it’s followed by a flashing blue light to indicate the unit turned On/Off. Then to start enjoying some vapour just hold down the button as you draw. Yup it’s that simple, making this tiny unit very user friendly.

Performance

First off this is the perfect discreet set up for anyone out and about. The Lucky Bear is very tiny and the lanyard will be very handy. At first I was not sold on the lanyard idea like most of us, but at this size it made it very practical. Maybe it’s because I am such a klutz but it made me feel safer knowing it was tethered to me. Also the Lucky Bear is so tiny you kinda worry you might just lose it. So the lanyard is very practical especially for this unit.

Ok enough about the tiny size let’s talk performance. The Lucky Bear’s simple design makes it easy very easy to use. Push the button and it delivers god tasty vapour. The vapour produced is not the thickest but delivers good smooth hits. One thing I did notice is you do not want to take crazy long draws or you will get a burnt taste. But this might have been caused by my oil or cartridge I was using.

Surprisingly the 550mAh battery will hold up to a couple days of heavy use! Maybe having no variable voltage and the no fuss one button design makes it that more efficient? Trust me at this size I was not even expecting one evening of use before having to charge it. Hit after hit the Lucky Bear just kept going on strong.

Final Thoughts

Let me tell you that the size of the Lucky bear is insane!! But even at this size it will give some great continuous hits for up to a couple days even during heavy use. So if your looking for discreetness this is definitely the unit to get. But as the unit does not have variable voltage for adjusting or tweaking your vape experience, it might be a turn off for some. So I guess you just can’t have it all especially for a unit this small.

A couple things I would like to see upgraded on the Lucky bear would be to have a fully removable lanyard. Also another idea would be to move the indicator light from behind the oil cartridge to the side or even at the top.

All in all the Lucky Bear is really an impressive unit for only $39US. I would highly recommend it for its price range and durability. Definitely one I would keep in mind ;).

Loved the Fury 2 but found it just didn’t quite cut it….Well here’s it’s big brother The Fierce and he packs a lot of power under the hood for an unbelievable performance!

Well after the ever popular Fury 2 release people have been asking for a bigger better version. Healthy Rips listened to its customers and released The Fierce! This vaporizer is in the same shape and finish of the Fury 2 but on a larger scale with a removable battery. The battery is not the standard 18650 but a proprietary 4050mAh lithium that provides around 2 hours of vaping sessions. Unlike the popular 18650 batteries you will need to order from HR as you will not be able to just grab one at any corner store. So when doing your order if your thinking extra battery remember to add it to your cart .The reason they are using the Lithium Polymer batteries instead of the 18650 batteries is because they have been known to explode so they decided safety was more important.

What’s in the Box

The standard Fierce bundle includes all these accessories.

  • Fierce Vaporizer
  • Silicone Smell Cover
  • Glass Stem for the Mouthpiece Accessory Attachment
  • Mouthpiece Accessory Attachment
  • USB-C Charging Cable
  • Wall Charger
  • Cleaning Brush
  • Tweezer
  • Dab/Packing Tool
  • Extra Screen & O-Ring Set
  • Stainless Steel oil/Wax Pad
  • Extra Battery Door Screw
  • User Manual

As you can see by the list of accessories the standard bundle is a good complete kit to get you started with the Fierce. They even included a wall adapter, not sure why more companies do not include one. Another great feature is that Healthy Rips included with the Fierce one Glass Stem attachment! Thanks HR for adding this at no extra cost.

First Impressions

After opening the box my first impression was wow this looks just like the Fury 2! So Healthy Rips kept the looks but have done some major improvements on the Fierce. Then when you actually hold the unit for the first time you think wow this thing is hefty and somewhat large. But after holding it a few minutes the ergonomy of the unit makes for a comfortable unit to hold even if its a larger unit than most. The finish is the same as the Fury 2 with its mat rubberish finish all over its aluminum body, making for a more durable and less slippery unit. I was worried the Fierce would have a cheap feel to it. But trust me this unit feels like quality the minute you hold it in your hands.

Priced at $189US for the standard bundle, the Fierce is in the same price category as many higher end vaporizers. But no worries the Fierce holds up to the competition as in some cases even outperforms some!

Performance

The performance on the Fierce is great! This convection unit has great airflow producing really smooth vapour . The bowl is a fair size but when using the glass stems you do have to compensate on the capacity. As the stem holds the herbs and then inserted inside the oven, like its little brother, the oven capacity will be somewhat affected. Another great option is the large led display showing you the set temp, oven temp , session timer and the battery indicator. The Fierce will vibrate once the desired temp is reached, and this will only take like 30 seconds. Like all convection vapes the first draw or two will be weaker as you need to pull the heat through to get good vapour going. But once it gets going you will be enjoying some smooth tasty rips. The adjustable sesh timer on the Fierce is from 3-8 minutes making it easy to personalize to your taste.

My only negative on the Fierce is the awkwardness of sliding on the mouthpiece accessory with the glass stem as well as loading the glass stem. It’s not a big deal but sometimes it does get off track and binds, and it also hits the grinder edge as you try to load the stem.

Final Thoughts

If you are in the market for a new vaporizer the Fierce is definitely one to look at. This convection unit delivers on flavour and the battery life is great! It might not be as portable to some due to its size and weight but to me it’s perfect. I have bigger hands then most so probably one reason why I love the size. But if you want power you will need to sacrifice on discreteness. The proprietary battery is a 4050mAh and depending on the temperature you vape getting 2 hours of use is possible. And with the removable battery , you can easily order an extra one to have for longer on the go use. The other feature worth mentioning is the USB-C charging, as most cell phones are upgrading to this, makes it more convenient having only one charger for all.

The Fierce also has many optional accessories available. Here is a list of some of the most popular ones: dosing capsules, a glass bubbler, glass wpa, different length and shape glass stems ,extra battery ,they even have a Fierce charging dock. So if you like a good selection of options Healthy Rips has you covered.

As the vape industry is growing and so is XVape a company know for reliable units at budget friendly price! Now they are releasing a new unit that is not revolutionizing the industry but is lowering the budget friendly prices!

The new Avant is a tiny vape that has a large chamber with no extra features just 5 preset temps. No fancy vibration when unit gets to temp, no fancy interface, no swappable battery just a good working conduction vape. This unit was built for the adventurer in my opinion as if you break it or lose it no big deal just buy a new one for $59US!

This little unit gets to temp fast and pushes out some serious thick vapour. But man the price of the Avant says it all. Not everyone is interested in making a big investment to switch to vaping and the Avant will fill that gap.

Features

The Avant features a magnetic mouthpiece made of Zirconia and a super small footprint making it extremely portable and discreet. It also has 5 preset temperatures so you can definitely find a temp you will enjoy. And to top that off , the Avant has a nice large ceramic oven and a 1200mAh battery. This little guy is also backed by a 12 month factory warranty(more details in the manual)

Fonction

The very simple one button interface on the Avant makes it very easy to fonction. Just 3 quick clicks to turn the unit on or off . And to select one of the 5 temps all you do is hold the button down to cycle through the 5 temps and release when your desired temp is selected. It’s that simple to use, just what you need when all you want to do is get vaping. When you choose to restart the Avant , it will remember your previous temp setting.

What’s in the box

Here is what comes with the Avant vaporizer.

  • Avant Vaporizer
  • USB Charging Cable
  • User Manual
  • Metal Mouthpiece Screen
  • 2 X Chamber Screens
  • Tweezer
  • Cleaning Brush
  • Packing/Loading Tool

Even at this low price they still include all the basics for accessories.

Performance

Ok guys first things first , you will want to get this unit cleaned out with ISO. Then get some burn outs done at max temperatures to rid the unit of any manufacturing oils or residue. After that you will need to get the Avant charged up so you can start to vape. This vaporizer is a conduction unit so you will want to pack the oven nice and fairly tight. Its large oven holds quite a bit so you will be getting baked for sure after a session. Click the button 3 times quickly to turn the unit on and then hold the button to choose your desired temp.

The Avant does not lack in heat up time, takes about 15-30 seconds(depending how much botanicals you pack inside the oven) and you are ready to start on your first draw. The first couple draws ar fair and taste is average. As you get more into the session the vapour tends to get warm and flirts with the hot side , but what did you expect for a $59US vape. Flavours decrease rapidly after a few draws but if you stir the bowl you’ll get a couple more fair tasting draws before the bowl gets spent. Surprisingly the Avant stays cool to the touch but if your going to vape at max temps for multiple sessions it will get hot. All in all the Avant performed as expected when I received so no big surprises here.

Final Thoughts

This very affordable vaporizer is not a leader in innovations but just a basic unit. That being said I think this unit is perfect for the first timers that do not want to invest much money or the enthusiast for on the run. Another great price feature is that you can travel to a legal state and before leaving just leave it there or if it gets confiscated on your way back no big deal. The Avant is almost priced to be a disposable unit. But I will admit this unit still produces some great vapour for the price range. Let’s be honest at $59US you will not be expecting topnotch super smooth tasty vapour! Nonetheless this unit definitely has a place in the market for many consumers out there. So if you are looking to get into vaping and not break the bank the Avant is a perfect choice.

Great Vapour Production

Yup Flowermate put out another vape unit and not many realize that it’s available. Not sure why they did not advertise the Slick more cause it’s a little gem!

Unboxing (what’s inside)

Ok guys before we get into details of the Slick lets get this vape unboxed. As for the presentation it’s just a basic plastic molded insert that holds the unit in place. Not much wow factor to the presentation but I was expecting that as this vape is only priced at $79.95US. The box itself is clean and well explained with some bright orange statements and back making it stick out. Here is the list of accessories that come with it.

  • The Slick unit
  • 18650 High Drain 2500mAh Battery
  • OIl/Waxy Pod
  • Flower Pod
  • Micro USB Cable
  • 5X Stainless Chamber Screens
  • 5X Stainless Mouthpiece Screens
  • Packing/Dabbing Tool
  • Cleaning Brush
  • Warranty Card
  • Instructions Manual

As you noticed you get the typical vape accessories included with most units.

Before Using

Before you start using the Slick you will want to charge the battery. When waiting for it to charge I normally get the ISO out with some Q-Tips and start the cleaning process. Why should you clean a new unit? Well you are going to want to rid it of all manufacturing oils and residue. This is not a must but if you start this way you will definitely help to get the best flavours out of its first initial use. I typically just wipe down the oven walls with the Q-Tip dipped in ISO , then also do the mouthpiece. Then when the battery is fully charged you will want to do some burn offs and maximum temp as well. There now you should be set to start your first session.

How to instructions

The Slick is very simple to use. In case you did not notice there is only one button. So the interface is very simple but works great. The typical turn on/off way is 5 quick clicks , then to switch temps all you do is a 3 quick clicks to scroll thru the 3 preset temps. Blue is the lowest temp (385F) , Green(405F) and the max temperature one is Red(420F). I was a little disappointed when seeing only 3 preset temps. After using it a few times the blue is perfect to start a sesh then bump it up to green to finish it. So the 3 temps are perfect and let’s face it this is not a high end unit.

When the sesh stops after 5 minutes to restart it all you need to do is hold down the button for 2 seconds and it will start heating up right away. This vaporizer heats up fast! Oh and did I mention it vibrates when it gets to temp and before it goes to sleep after the 2 minute sesh. Yup and all this for a super low price of $79.95US.

Performance

For the best performance of the Slick you will need to pack the oven well cause it is a conduction unit. I love using a fine grind for great vapour production. On the blue setting the first and lowest temp this will deliver some really tasty hits for the first 3 to 4 draws. Plus the vapour will be visible and smooth. For having the oven directly under the mouthpiece I was very surprised.

On the medium temperature setting ,the blue one , I use on the second sesh of the same bowl. At this temp the vapour is still not harsh but the flavour is very diminished, but the vapour produced is thick and powerful. I also tried this temp setting with a fresh bowl , but prefered starting at the lower temps as it produces better flavours.

Now for the highest temp the red setting. This temperature I would not recommend to use for flower but they do include an oil/waxy pod so this would be why the last temp is so high. At the time of the review I had not tried the oil/waxy pod as in the past they just did not perform well.

Pros and Cons

The Slick has so many pros to list.

  • Magnetic Mouthpiece Cover
  • Removable 18650 battery
  • Simple to Use
  • Produces Nice Vapour
  • The Price!!
  • Glass Mouthpiece
  • Battery Life
  • Vibrates When Turning Unit On/Off
  • Vibrates After Session before going in sleep mode

The Cons is a short list but one is really annoying.

  • Only 3 Temps
  • Glass Mouthpiece is Very Hard to Remove for Cleaning
  • NO BATTERY LIFE INDICATOR

As you can see the list of cons is short but the most obvious is definitely the lack of having a battery life indicator. Flowermate how could you forget such a feature, even at this price point.

Final Thoughts

I believe priced at $79.95US the Slick is a must have for beginners or even the connoisseurs. It’s perfect for that throw in you backpack unit to bring to the lake or camp for passing around at the fire. If you accidentally drop it or break it, you won’t be to upset as you did not break the bank to purchase it. I do recommend grabbing a couple extra batteries and a charger like a Nitecore to properly/safely charge your batteries. Yes you can charge via the USB on the side of the vape but a charger will get the job done faster and safer.

The ever so popular Starry 2.0 now has a new version with some great updates! Are you ready for the new 3.0 version?

What’s inside the box

Let’s start this review by seeing what you get in the box. The box is all blacked out giving the presentation a Metallica ish look at first glance. BTW I’m referring to the ever popular Black Album, directed by Bob Rock.

Ok back to the X MAX Starry 3.0 unboxing and its contents. When you open the box you’re greeted by the X MAX nicely tucked in a black foam bed keeping it all safe. You need to pull that foam layer out to reveal the accessories underneath. Here is what you get :

  • X MAX Starry 3.0
  • 1 X 18650 Battery 2600mAh
  • USB Charging Cable
  • 1 X Tweezer
  • 1 X Cleaning Brush
  • 1 X Packing/Dabbing Tool
  • 1 X Stainless Mesh Pad for Concentrates
  • 2 X Mouthpiece Screens
  • 2 X Oven Screens
  • Instructions Manual
  • 2 X Mouthpiece Gaskets
  • 1 X Stainless Mouthpiece Flat Heat Distributor
  • 2 X Silicone Sleeves (mouthpiece tip protector)

Upgrades and Added Features

Ok this is where things get exciting as I let you in on these great new upgrades!

Here is what’s new in the 3.0 version.

The changes made does give the X MAX Starry a better user experience. The biggest IMO is the haptic feedback when the unit reaches the selected temperature. No more staring at the screen to know when it hits selected temp. Hmmmm I wonder if originally it was called Starry cause you had to stare at the unit to know when the temperature is reached? 🙂

It will also vibrate at the end of the timed session letting you know it is turning off. They have also updated the mouthpiece screen from a ceramic one to a stainless screen. This allows a better air flow and makes its easier to brush clean after every use. They have also made some changes inside , like better insulated oven, for better performance. A new stronger mouthpiece gasket to improve durability. And last but not least a new battery door mechanism giving a better battery connection. This should make end to the 2.0 finicky battery issue. I have noticed that other batteries now work in the new X MAX Starry 3.0.

Performance

As its predecessor this vape hits hard and you get so much for under $100US. To turn the unit on/off you will need to hold down the power button for 3 seconds. This little guy also has a digital OLED display that allows you to adjust the temperature by the degree from 212°F to 464°F. Yes you do have the choice of F or C by holding down the power button and the down temp button. You can also adjust the session timer from 5 to 10 minutes by holding down the power button and the up temp button. I prefer leaving mine at the 5 minute session.

As soon as the unit turns on the oven starts to heat up. It will take a quick 23-25 seconds to reach the selected temperature. This is a fast heat up time for an oven this large! The oven holds approximately .30 grams if packed tight. The first few draws are good tasting but will dissipate very fast as all conduction units. But it will deliver heavy vapour that will hit hard! At the end of your 5 minute sesh you will be feeling the effects guaranteed.

Another great feature on the X MAX is the magnetic mouthpiece making loading and unloading quick and very easy. The very strong magnets used on the Starry will hold the mouthpiece tight and in place no worries.

Battery life is great for only having one 18650. I get around 80 to 90 minutes of use at 385°F but probably would get less if vaping at higher temps. Having the ability to swap batteries ,you can have multiple ones ready for for a full weekend use!

Final Thoughts

The unit feels high quality with its alloy body finish and its pure zirconium mouthpiece, and you get all this at under $100US. The X MAX Starry 3.0 is definitely a unit to look at for beginners and connoisseurs cause you get so much for such a small investment.

But if you are chasing for flavours, then I would suggest looking into a convection or a hybrid unit but that will cost you more money. All in all what you are getting for under $100US ,the X MAX Starry 3.0 is a must have vape that packs a punch!

These upgrades will definitely be great for the new consumer. If you already own the 2.0 and your not willing to spend $100US for the new version. You can just order the new mouthpiece and get the better air flow, easier cleaning and more durable gasket. But hey , new vapes are always appealing and we must admit VAS always gets the best of us.

Is the new Stealth MV1 a new vape or just a new colour option?

The Ghost Vape hype

After a long awaited release of the Ghost MV1 vaporizer , it was fast shot down with many negative comments and reviews. But it seemed more like a hit and miss as far as having a good or bad experience. Luckily with my first MV1 it worked perfectly. They then re adjusted the firmware and did some little changes to the unit. Most noticeably the new plastic mouthpiece! To me I am still scratching my head why would such a high end vape switch from glass to plastic. They say the change was for added protection against dropping the unit or for added durability when forgetting the  mouthpiece extended.

My opinion on the new Stealth

This time I think the company did not just throw us a new colour. They actually took there time and did some minor changes that noticeably added to its performance ! First of all the new stealth colour is amazingly beautiful with its all black finish right down to the heatsink. Not only did the colour change on the heat sink , they have also reengineered it giving it more power .So it now extracts more efficiently whether its concentrates or dry flower. Also they have added a new updated firmware to the unit giving it that little added battery life and better user experience. No more long draws with no results with this new unit!

Let’s load a crucible

Ok so first thing first , loading the crucible has not changed. So make sure you do not over pack and keep the cannabis nice and fluffy in there. Another thing to make sure is that no flower is left on the edges of the crucible as this will affect its performance. Yes loading crucibles has not changed and it can be a pain , but once you get a technique the job becomes effortless. The 5 crucible dispenser is a great way to also load a bunch and make the process easier when ready to vape. So make sure to check that accessory cause trust me your going to want one!

Ok let’s get back to this session so I can discuss what I’m thinking as I am using the MV!.

Time to get vaping

First we will need to put the loaded crucible in the unit. When you push the loading door button that is where you notice the new door latch. So much easier to push in and the door opens slightly. Insert the crucible then as you close the door it’s way easier to get it to click and lock. Major improvement, way less force needed to click it back closed . Let’s start this session at the second pre set temp of  365F . Yup I remember why I love this unit so much! Even at low temps you get crazy flavours and actual vapour.

Oh by the way I loaded some purple kush from my own home grow. Getting all the flavours and very tasty, it’s almost flirting with a minty after tone on this one.

Ok enough about the taste, time to bump it up to the third pre set 392F. Oh man this is where you start getting the lung busting rips, yet still got lots of flavour. You definitely notice the new heat sink performance as it delivers thicker and smoother vapour. Ghost you guys hit this upgrade out of the ballpark! I know it’s not all the heat sink as the new firmware also has a major part in its performance and better battery life. Another hit at that 392F temp and I’m satisfied and starting to feel its effects. The MV1 extracts very effectively getting you medicated real fast. No need for 5 minute sesh with this vaporizer.

Final thoughts

I believe that Ghost is on the right path to making the MV1 the best portable vape on the market. Now if they transition these upgrades to the whole lineup they surely will get less complaints and way more sales! If you used an earlier model I suggest getting your hands on a Stealth to try out. You will change your opinion of it on the first rip,yup it’s that noticeable!

Then there is the app that practically no one uses, wondering if that will ever be upgraded?

Focusvape has rolled up their sleeves and promises top engineering and sophisticated products! Behind the scenes many changes are happening over there. So be ready to see some other great units hitting the market in the spring of 2019.

The first new vaporizer to hit the market is the Aero a dual chamber full convection unit. Yup you read it right , a dual chamber!! Why two chambers? Not quite sure why they came up with this option but so far I am loving it. Fill both ovens before you step out of the house and your set for a great afternoon of pure flavourful vaping.

Ok enough talk about the dual chamber let’s get down to the unboxing and first impressions.(my unit was a pre-release so there has been some changes to the look of the box as well as some minor updates to the unit)

Un-Boxing

Upon looking at the box you can tell its a Focusvape product with its bright green writing as we seen in all there pre released vaporizers. Then when you open the box the Aero sits nicely in a plastic raised piece that looks a bit cheap. Then under this plastic piece you will find the typical accessories from usb cable, a loading funnel (love this) , cleaning brush , alcohol wipes and instructions .There will also offer a bubbler and wpa as accessories. I am hoping that Focusvape will add to its presentation on the final release.

*** Focusvape has contacted me and said the boxing has been update! Here are pictures of the new boxing. It is 100% improved , I really like what they did with the new packaging.

Product Description

Now to the part that is really important…….the vaporizer itself! Its black, shinny and man oh man it feel like quality once you hold it in your hands. You can tell that they put lots of engineering into this one. Yes it does have a familiar look but trust me its no Solo knock off!

The mouthpiece is pure zirconium and its very comfortable. When unscrewing the top part of the mouthpiece it then reveals a nice longer then expected airpath to insure cool vapour. The long airpath along with the zirconium mouthpiece you know this thing is going to push out some seriously smooth vapour! Then mouthpiece is in two pieces making for easy cleaning of that airpath hidden in there.

Also at the bottom of the unit there is a stir tool tightly tucked away . This is a great idea as with a convection you will definitely need to stir that bowl during a sesh. Thanks Focusvape I really love this little option. The stir tool is really well designed with a scoop shape making for a great loading tool as well.

Before using the unit

Enough talk about the build and looks let’s get down to using this new vaporizer! But before that you know the drill……Plug the unit in over night to get a proper first charge. Then you will want to do a couple burn offs at max temp to rid the unit of any unwanted oils left from manufacturing. I also take some Q-tips dipped in ISO and clean the oven, mouthpiece and the air path. Yeah it’s probably overkill but hell it makes me feel better knowing I did it.

Loading the ovens

Now that the unit is cleaned and fully charged. It’s time to get it loaded so we can see how it performs. A nice accessory they have included is a loading funnel, so just insert it on top of the oven to load your cannabis. Make sure not to over pack as this will affect its performance. From my testing a light pack almost as if you want or could add another scoop. Go ahead and repeat this as this unit has two ovens! Now that both are loaded lets get this session started.

Let’s start vaping

To turn the unit on you need to click the on/off button 3 times rapidly and the same if you would want to turn the unit off. Then it will automatically start heating up to the last temp. After dialing in the temp just wait and the unit will vibrate once its ready.  The heat up time takes around 40 seconds but I tend to hold off a a bit before taking that first hit.

Now this is a pure convection unit so ideally take nice long draws. This unit has an adjustable air flow but from experience fully open is best. Convection units tend to need lots of air to work properly so I leave mine wide open. The first hit is always my favorite on all vapes as its the best tasting IMO. As the heater gets warmed up more you will notice the vapour get thinker but the flavours stay nice and bold. The sesh time is set for 5 minutes so when it ends I recommend stirring the bowl and give it another sesh. The second sesh you will notice the vapour will be much thinner as the cannabis is getting spent.

Now that the first bowl is spent we can move on to the next one. All you need to do is twist the top ring firmly and that will switch the bowl. No harder than that! You are now ready to start another bowl , it’s that easy!

Final Thoughts

After using this pre-release for a few weeks it quickly became a favourite but like everyone new units always get all the attention!

So far the unit has met my needs, but would like a silicone sleeve to be included if not sold separately. The outer casing does get hot if you are going to vape two bowls in a row , but not has hot as the IQ. The biggest reason for the sleeve for me is for protection against the clombsyness of my stoner self! Cause with its all black body and somewhat shiny finish scratches will show up easily.

The spent cannabis in my testing did not have any crazy dark or charred bits. Seemed very even and properly spent getting a full extraction from the bowls loaded.

I would say Focusvape is on the right track ! The Aero should be a great unit to add to your collection if looking for a pure convection unit.

**Little update**

The Aero will be released December 17, and to make things more interesting Focus-V are giving away 3 units the week before its release!! Make sure to check out the details on my Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/p/BrGqHebgt-4/?hl=en

Yup trust me on this one, size does not matter!! Tiny and discreet the Fury 2 delivers great flavours and thick vapour.

Before ordering this vaporizer I was hesitant as the first version was not the best unit. I put the past aside and made the choice to order myself one from The Herb Cafe. Upon receiving the parcel in the mail I was quick to notice the small size and how nice the package was! First impressions count and Healthy Rips delivered on it.

Un Boxing

Like many vaporizers it comes with usual accessories: usb cable , dap/stir tool , instructions, a silicone cover for the unit , spare screens and silicone bands for the mouthpiece. On my order I had also picked up the WPA and the bent glass mouthpiece and I am very happy I did. The unit is very small , and it also feel very good in the hand. Its a quality built vape. The minute you hold it in your hands ,you realise they did not cut corners on this one.

Like all new vaporizers I get first things first. I charge the battery overnight and then proceed to doing some burn offs at maximum temps to get rid of any manufacturing oils left behind.

Let’s get vaping

On the first burn off you quickly notice how fast this unit heats up! So getting really excited to get my first session going. When loading the bowl you will notice it is not the largest on the market and if you use the glass WPA or bent mouthpiece the size is even smaller, but do not let that influence its ability to get you medicated!

The display is nice and clean showing you the set temperature and the session countdown(2 minutes). I usually start at lower temps like 370  and then bump it up on the second cycle to 395 to finish off the bowl. Taste is really good at the lower temps and at higher settings the taste dissipates faster but you still get a couple very tasty rips before it degrades on taste. The unit works very well and is surprisingly very efficient for its size! At this time I would say the biggest negative is the shorter battery life. Not being a removable one you are constantly plugging the unit in to charge it. But small battery take less time to charge so I guess every negative can still have a positive side.

Optional Glass Mouthpiece and WPA

Ok lets now go more in details on the optional glass WPA and bent mouthpiece. This is where the Fury 2 excels in performance and taste, as the longer air path will deliver a way smoother , more flavorful vapour! The WPA is by far my favorite way to use with a bubbler as the vapour then become so smooth you can hardly feel it in the back of the throat. But when you are done with the bowl you will definitely be feeling its effects. The accessories are listed at around $21.99 and worth every penny.

Final Thoughts

This vaporizer produced by Healthy Rips is their second version and they have perfected it. If you have yet to try one or still on the edge in getting one, I highly suggest making that order today cause you will not regret it. The unit works very well straight out of the box but if you add the glass water pipe adapter and the bent glass mouthpiece the experience will be even better. Yes the Fury 2 works well as is but if your going to take it up in temps the short mouthpiece will deliver somewhat harsh vapour. But add that wpa or longer glass mouthpiece and the vapour delivered will be much smoother and enjoyable! These 2 add ons will not break the bank  ,take my word on it you will want these!

Healthy Rips has listened to the customers and has now released the Fierce , a bigger version of the Fury 2 with removable battery for longer uses !

After a lot of hype that the vape world was going to get rocked by this new technology, better tasting results and out of the ordinary space aged looking. The Ghost MV1 unit has finally released.

With all the pictures and video excerpts recently released, there was no doubt that the Ghost MV1 would look amazing. Like everyone else, I was very excited to get my new MV1 vaporizer. After many hours of thinking about what to choose, I finally decided on going with the Rose Gold model. With 4 beautiful finishes to choose from, it made the decision that much harder. After learning that the unit had been shipped, the eagerness with which I anticipated its arrival made it feel like I’d been waiting for months. In Canada, incoming parcels go through customs and they always get held up and delayed at the border. This process can sometimes take around 10 to 14 days before the parcel gets delivered to one’s doorstep!

As Ghost had advertised, they used advanced technology and engineering to build the MV1. The box appeared somewhat large but the details in the craftsmanship and presentation put into the box itself, impressed. This only heightened my eagerness to open it and get to the high-end vaporizer.

As you open the box, it’s all hinged and held close by a magnet to reveal the MV1 perfectly placed, surrounded by nice green colors and pictures.

By the way the rose gold finish is beautiful and will not disappoint, yes it’s a fingerprint magnet but it looks so F&%*ing sexy!

Inside the box:

You will find, at first glance, the MV1’s instruction manual; USB charging cable; accessories kit that includes cleaning wipes, picks, cotton buds (Q-tips), extra crucible and lid as well as one concentrate pad. At the same time, I also received one fast charger (sold separately), which makes charging the MV1 way faster and more effective. However, I’m not sure as to why Ghost did not include the fast charger as the price of the MV1 is already high enough. And since the fast charger is a must-have accessory, adding it’s price separately does add to the final cost for the consumer. Anyways, if you are looking to order the MV1, you most definitely want to add the fast charger before completing your order.

To digress a little, a great suggestion here for Ghost would be to offer an bundle package available at a discounted price…

Before Using the MV1 Tips:

Back to the MV1, after unboxing the unit, I highly recommend taking the battery and charging it overnight. This is to allow the perfect first initial charging sequence and help prolong the battery life. If you opt for and have the fast charger, you only have to charge it for a couple of hours! Yup, fast charging takes roughly 2.5 hours to reach full battery life while the provided USB cable can take 6 to 8 hours. Told you that you needed that fast charger!! Once the battery is fully charged, you’re ready to start using the MV1……stop right there! Before you load that first, long-awaited crucible; before you begin to enjoy the great tasting vapor, YOU MUST first of all take out the heat sink and assure it is properly assembled. Failure to do this will mean you might have issues with having an improperly sealed heat sink which in turn can mean inconsistent hits and poor performances. Please, ensure you do this if you want a perfect first impression of the MV1. When you first hit it and your eyes roll back in your head as the intense terps and flavor consume your soul and that half smirk as you exhale smooth thick vapor!

Assembling the heat sink is a pretty easy process: open the crucible holder door on the unit. Push up on the silicone gasket to release the heat sink from its tight fit and then pull it out. You will then pull the glass mouthpiece out and then proceed to taking the cap off the heat sink. It will then reveal a black rubber/silicone that can simply be pulled out, revealing a ceramic part. This is all the components of the heat sink; you will need to repeat this process for the cleaning/maintaining of the unit. Then reassemble it, making sure every piece is properly pushed in to ensure a tight seal. Once you’re done, just push back the heat sink in its place on the MV1 and you are now ready to load your first crucible.

LOADING THE CRUCIBLE:

You will want to grind your cannabis to a not-too-fine but not-too-coarse consistency as the grind will also help with its performance. This unit is an on demand convection so airflow is key to its performance. So please, do NOT overload or pack the crucible tight as this will not allow for an even extraction and will result in poor performance. Simply fill the crucible leaving it fluffy so that it allows no restriction to the heat to pass through it as it heats the flower in order to release the oils to produce the best vapor possible. That’s it, you’re now on your way to a great session.

HOW TO:

Now that the crucible is loaded and into the MV1, it’s now time to turn the unit on and select your desired temperature. To turn the unit on, you will need to hold down the single button interface until the green single led turns on and then release it. The unit will then indicate the battery level with 3 green led lights (3 indicates full charge; 2 halfway and 1 means a low battery so time to place on that optional fast charger). Next, click the button three times to put the unit in vaping mode. The next step is where I found using the MV1 a little bit confusing. Because it only has one button, you will need to do a long press, one-click once, two-click sequence, in order to choose the heat level for flower (yellow LED) or concentrates(red LED). But then again, you will be able to have two favorite heat settings saved in the red LED sequence. The one-button interface is not entirely bad but after a crucible or two, it does get confusing! To help with this small challenge, Ghost have released a mobile application that helps ease the confusion associated with using the single button.

But they have now finally released a cell app that does help with ease of the one button clicking challenge.

After you clicking  3 times to put the unit in vaping mode, you will need to hold the button down for a second or two which will reveal the battery level once again, then repeat the long press which then brings you to the heat level selection. Yellow single LED = herb low 338ºF; two yellow LEDs= herb medium heat 365ºF and three yellow LEDs = herb high-level 392ºF. Those are the preset temps for flower as you select by clicking that single button. Then it goes to red LED, and this reveals one red LED = herb customized heat setting; two red LEDs = your second customized heat setting and 3 red LEDs indicates concentrate mode which the heat level is preset to 428ºF. Now that you have selected the desired temp for dry herb or the single concentrate temp, you will proceed to hold down the vape button (located on the back of the unit). After a few seconds when the temp selected is reached, the unit will vibrate indicating it’s time to take that nice long draw. 10 to 15 seconds later, you will feel the unit vibrate again indicating the heating has now ended, and you are free to take in and exhale some crazy, smooth and tasty vapor!

CELL PHONE APP:

While you are waiting for the MV1 to charge take the time to download the Ghost App for your iPhone or Android. You will want this as it allows you to fine tune the 2 custom vape temps. Or easily select any of the 5 temps for flower (3 preset and 2 custom) and one concentrate temp. The app itself to me is a must have but it does leave you wondering why they have not perfected it. The App itself leaves so many opportunities for taking the MV1 to the next level. They are saying the app will have an update releasing more options and flex-ability. I would love to see a bump mode added to the app. It would allow the unit to ramp up the temp every time you activate the vape button by 10 degrees. Not having to go to the app or having to go true all the clicking sequences in order to bump up the temp. Imagine starting low and ending up at max temp to fully extract that crucible when vaping flower without. To me, that would make the MV1 experience even better!

It’s a very simple app that leaves so many open opportunities untouched.

Battery Performance :

The battery is great allowing for about 100 draws in my testing starting at the lowest temp and slowly bringing the temps up as the sessions goes. That works out to at least 4 crucibles before having to charge the battery. As the battery drains it does takes a bit longer for the unit to get to temp but most vaporizers on the market also does this.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

My overall thoughts on the MV1 is that it is by far the best performing portable vaporizer in 2018.

The vapor produced by the MV1 is more flavorful then the Mighty, as  the Mighty is has a lot of conduction. With the MV1 it is much more pronounced and can even be mouth-watering. Plus the smoothness of the vapor it produces is unsurpassed by any portable vaporizer I have tried yet.

Yes, there’s a lot of bashing about the humming when the unit heats up but personally, I hardly hear it (might be my 46 year old ears). The IQ also makes a far more noticeable noise when it heats but no one mentions it!

The heat sink has to be checked regularly to ensure a good seal. For me, it makes for a must clean ritual, ensuring a perfect session every time I use the MV1. It’s not too portable a unit as its weight and size will turn off many from carrying it in their pockets. But with a proper case, this unit could easily be thrown in a backpack. At the moment, not having a case makes it easy to scratch and you don’t want that to happen after pushing out $295 US dollars to get it . A case and the now available crucible holder would make for the perfect outdoor adventure vaporizer! The crucible holder allows you to have five filled ready-to-be-vaped bowls when on the go.

Also, don’t forget that if you pre-load the MV1 with a total of 6 crucibles, that and a spare battery will definitely get you through your weekend camping trip.

The well thought out ergonomics makes the unit feel great in the hand (yes I have big hands). So I feel the weight and the balance of the unit is comfortable in the hand as you use it, making for a great session.

So still holding back on the cost of this unit…..

I don’t blame you as the price is the only hold back of getting the MV1 in my opinion. But if they could bring out a bundle with MV1, the quick charger, extra battery and the crucible dispenser at $349.95. I believe that it would bring more value for one’s hard earned money and make the decision to buy easier for the reluctant consumer.

Last but not least, what I would love to see on the MV2 (if they release one) is an actual digital display with more than just a single button making for an easier interface with a more flexible degree by degree temperature adjustment along with the inclusion of the quick charger.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoyed the read, if you have any questions or suggestions please leave them in the comments.

The famous Pax brand has been leading the vaporizer world with its branding, iPhone quality comparison and impressive presentation. But are you paying for quality, performance or just the branding? This was my biggest concern before getting my first Pax unit. To this day, I am not sure if I would have pulled the plug on such a premium-priced unit but thanks to Randy at PuffitUp for sending me one of his own Pax 3 to test and review. Thanks Randy, I truly appreciate it along with everything you have been doing for the vaping community.

The Pax has been reviewed a million times and you might have probably read over a 100 different versions but I assure you this is the one to read for anyone looking into getting one of these bad ass vaporizers!

Pax 3 Review Unboxing and First Impressions:

As I mentioned earlier, upon receiving and opening the parcel, you are quickly welcomed by this beautifully designed box that almost makes you want to caress and open it slowly to preserve its beauty. So trust me, you will want to grab a sharp knife or scissors so you can slowly cut the protective seal and push out the outer sleeve to reveal the actual box holding the Pax 3. It’s nicely placed, protected and meticulously organized in a manner that every accessory is jumping right at you. It is indeed impressive presentation. This is where I believe Pax excels (admit it, first impressions do count), so if the boxing is that great then one can just imagine the quality of the actual product.

Pax 3 Accessories:

Whenever I get a new vaporizer, the first thing I always do is get the battery charged overnight. It’s a great practice that everyone needs to adopt. I know we are all so anxious to get that first draw from the new shiny vapes, but trust me, the first initial charge is an important step in ensuring the best overall battery use and life. As the unit sits quietly charging, I usually utilize this period to go through all the accessories. In this regard, the Pax 3 complete kit has a lot of accessories to go through. The first accessory I went through was obviously the charger as I needed to get it attached to the Pax in order to get the charging process started. I must say that the charger is TINY!! It is by far the smallest I have ever seen. The one I received is the newer version and is way more compact than the charging dock that they first shipped out with.

It is by far the smallest I have ever seen. The one I received is the newer version and is way more compact than the charging dock that they first shipped out with.

Next are two different mouthpieces to choose from. The Pax3 has, as part of its accessories, the ever so popular flat mouthpiece already installed along with a raised one. Yes, the flat one does look more Pax-ish as every picture posted always features it. It is great for its discreetness but I’ve always felt that it’s too hot on the lips. Also, having to basically have half your mouth on the unit itself isn’t just my thing…….guess I am one of the what like 12 people on earth that prefers the raised mouthpiece!

Once you’re done with the mouthpiece, up next is the handy key-chain multi-tool which is great for removing the mouthpiece for cleaning or switching from flat to raised. It’s also used for cleaning out the spent cannabis and to also help tap down the herb as you load the chamber. And then you have the much-awaited concentrate adapter. I’m yet to try it out as I love my flower and wax/oils. The last but not least accessory is a nice little pouch to carry and protect your expensive Pax 3 …….yeah, it’s expensive!

Tips and Tricks for the Pax 3:

After charging the unit all night, you first need to do a couple of burn-offs to get the unit rid of unwanted manufacturing oils, if any was left behind. I normally do a couple at full temp and let the unit go until it shuts off automatically. By the way, make sure you hold the unit and move it once in a while or it will shut off automatically to preserve battery life! I did this for a good 10 minutes and blew into the mouthpiece every now and then. With that done, you’re set to use the Pax 3.

Ease of use:

This unit is not at all complicated to use. Simply pack the oven, located at the bottom of the unit, and press the top of the mouthpiece once to turn the unit on. Then hold it down for about a second to activate the temperature selector and keep pressing until you get the desired temperature you want to vape at. To activate the oven, just give the unit a shake (Easy Peasy). The temperature presets are one petal light 360ºC; two petal lights 380ºC; three petal lights 400ºC; four petal lights 420ºC. If at any time if you wish to check the battery life, give the unit a really good shake when it’s on and the battery life will be indicated by the number of petals that light up in white (4 white petals means fully charged, 3 means 3/4, two indicates that you’re halfway to needing to charge the unit. At one, I would recommend charging the device as there is nothing more insulting then getting ready only to discover the battery is dead; or worse yet a battery dying during a sesh!)

For those of you who are more of a techie and want to be able to fine tune temperatures or take advantage of the 5 preset modes (standard, boost, efficiency, stealth and flavor) the Pax 3 offers, then you better get your cell phone and download the app from google play or Apple app store. With the Pax App you will have full control of the unit and take advantage by setting your own preset temps, change petal colors, brighten or dim the L.E.D lights intensity. With the app, the possibilities are endless. Making an explanation of all you can do with the app would only extend this review…so just trust me, the apps does wonders!

Performance & Vapour Quality:

Now we’ll talk performance and battery life of this tiny vaporizer. As you remember, the Pax 3 comes with a half pack lid. This little accessory is by far the only lid the unit should come with, in my opinion, as when using the regular lid, it allows too much of a large load. This causes unevenly spent flower as the Pax 3 is still only a conduction unit —even though I know you expect convection at such a premium price. Based on my tests, the best result is achieved using the half pack and using it to also improve on the taste as well. So when you load the oven, you need to load it with a nice fine grind and make sure to pack it enough. But take care not to pack it so much that it cuts the air flow or draw. Then put the half pack lid back on.

My preference is for the 2 petal temp – 380ºC. With it, the first thing you notice when you activate the heat on this tiny unit is how fast it gets to temp! It takes only like 20 seconds and on the first draw you actually get a decent vapor production. The taste is also really good after the first but once you take around 3 draws it dissipates very quickly at each draw after that. On the bowl, I’d normally get a good 10 to 12 draws with thick vapors —but not tasty ones! If I’m being honest, it vapes like a typical conduction unit and the vapor gets pretty hot and harsh on the throat for such a premium priced unit. But I will admit that the battery on this tiny unit surpasses many extremely large competitive vaporizers out there! The 3500 mAh battery for this size vape is like throwing a Hemi in a Toyota Tercel, it’s an overkill, but you will truly enjoy the power it delivers.

Warranty & Price:

This beautifully designed unit is backed by a limited 10 year warranty! Which is a pretty impressive warranty for a portable unit.

So, the reasons for the high price? From my perspective, there are cheaper units that will surpass its average vapour output for close to half the price. You will not get any fancy phone apps or beautiful finishes like the Pax but lets face it are you buying a vaporizer for its looks or for great tasting vape, draw after draw? Would I recommend the Pax 3? If one is looking for the most discreet, most pocketable, crazy battery life unit …..hell yes!! But if one is looking for pure taste and smooth fresh cool hits ……..sorry but I would recommend another brand 🙁

Pax3-Sideways-Treestump-Woods

Final Thoughts:

With all that said, since having the Pax 3, it has become a daily driver. Even if it does not deliver as well as some others on taste and smoothness it’s always in my pocket as I walk out the door. It’s the kind of unit that you just get attracted to with its beautiful finish and sexy sleek look and making it a must-have in your pockets for all kind of activities. It’s really handy to use in public and super fun to pass around as no one will realize that you’re having a sesh right in front of them! And let’s not forget that crazy battery that just keeps going on and on!

Hope you enjoyed the read and learned the true side or at least my side of the Pax 3 story.
